General Information

bulletEK Camera Club maintains a website gallery which displays images submitted by members.

bulletAny current member of East Kilbride Camera Club, beginner, intermediate or advanced
level,
may submit images for display on the Club Image Gallery.

bulletImages must be the work of the member concerned, and must not infringe the copyright of others.

bulletCopyright of images remains with the original photographer. However, images are accepted for
display on the understanding that selected images may be freely used in electronic and/or printed club
publicity materials.  In such use, credit will be give where space and circumstances permit.

bulletBoth Colour and monochrome images are acceptable for the gallery.

Choosing images for your display

bulletBold colourful images tend to look better and attract more attention.

bulletImages are considerably reduced for display, so fine detail tends to get lost.  It is best to
select images which are bold and do no rely on fine detail for their effect

bulletIt is best to choose a mix of images which shows the range of your photographic interests
rather than several images of the same subject or on the same theme
.
bulletAlthough there are no hard and fast limits to the number of images you may display,
somewhere between 5 and 20 would seem reasonable.
bulletIf you have a lot of images to display, then it is best to submit them a few at a time over a
period of several months.  This allows us to keep adding new interest to the
gallery, encouraging visitors to return regularly.

Submitting images to the gallery.

bulletImages for the gallery should be submitted to the website manager.

bulletIt is helpful if the images have a clear title or description.

bulletAdditional information about the location, the technique used, or why the image
appealed to the photographer would also be welcome.

Film Images
bulletPrints, 35mm negatives or slides and medium format negatives or slides may all
be submitted for display on the gallery
bulletMaterials will be scanned and returned to the owner as soon as possible, hopefully
within 2 weeks.
Digital Images
bulletDigital images may be submitted on CD-ROM or may be submitted via E-mail.
E-Mail submissions should be sent as E-mail attachments to the Website Manager's
address as shown on the back of the current membership booklet

bulletDigital images must be at least 600 pixels on the longest axis.  Images smaller
the 600 pixels may be rejected on quality grounds.

bulletDigital images may be submitted in JPG, PSD, TIFF or BMP format.

Other Information

bulletWhile choice of subject is entirely up to the member concerned, it should be noted that the gallery is
intended to be "family friendly" and the Website Manager may decide to exclude images that, in his opinion, might cause offence.
bulletWhere a model or other identifiable person is portrayed in a photograph, it is the photographers responsibility to obtain their permission before submitting the image for display on the gallery website.
bulletImages, once submitted will normally remain on display for up to 2 years, but members
may at any time request that any or all of their images be removed from the gallery.
bulletImages submitted to the website may be used in publicity materials advertising  Club events and activities.
bulletImages will normally be displayed on the web as JPG compressed files of no more than 600 x 600 pixels
bulletSpace on the gallery will be allocated on a first come first served basis, but members with large numbers of images on display may be asked to reduce their portfolio should available web space become a limiting factor.
bulletOccasionally viewers of the website e-mail a comment about specific images.  Such comments will be passed on, in confidence, to the photographer concerned.
bulletOur website policy is that we respect our member's privacy and will NEVER pass on a member's
e-mail or other contact details.   We will also inform a member whenever anyone asks for such
information about them.   In that way, it is up to the member to decide whether they wish to
make contact or not.
